What is Intermittent Fasting?

Is it a crazy persons diet? Maybe! But, the philosophy of Intermittent Fasting goes back to the days of the cave man or hunter and gatherer.

Back in the day, we didn’t walk to our fridge and pantry and pull out sugar coated cereal and skinny milk laced with sugar to make our food taste better. We had to go and hunt and gather our food. Meaning, we didn’t eat when we woke up. We generally ate a few hours after waking up.

So what is Intermittent Fasting? In simple, you consume your full days calories in just 8 hours of the day and for the remaining 16 hours of the day you consume zero calories. It is sometimes referred to as the 8/16 diet.

The rules are pretty simple, pick a time that suits to start eating and eat until 8 hours later, in the process consuming your full days calories so you body can maintain itself. If you want to lose some fat then consume less calories than you need from protein, good carbs and good fats. Stay away from any food that is processed, in a shiny package, has added sugar or has the words ‘healthy’ on it.
